Oh! I suppose I should update things just a bit...I returned to the South Pole for my third winter in 2008. Yes, it was a great winter with fantastic friends...yes, my hair is longer, and yes, I'd love to go back. But I'm a construction guy and the new station construction is done.

Okay, I'm one of those guys with a staid traditional html web page created in notepad, but I thought I'd better put something here just in case. My second winter at Pole was last year (2005) which was the third winter in the new station...the common statement was that the new station was too new and sterile and lacked the character of the old place. My first winter, 28 years before that (in 1977) was .the third winter in the new station, and everyone said that it was too new and sterile and....go figure.
